Roxana Baiasu
In addition to being a Philosophy tutor of the Department for Continuing Education, Roxana is an Associate Member of the Philosophy Faculty, Oxford University, and Tutorial Fellow at Stanford University Centre in Oxford. Prior to this she was a lecturer at the Universities of Vienna and Leeds, and a Leverhulme Fellow at Sussex University. She is writing in the areas of Post-Kantian metaphysics and epistemology, philosophy of religion and feminist philosophy. She edited (with G. Bird and A.W. Moore) Contemporary Kantian Metaphysics Today: New Essays on Time and Space (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), and published in, among others, The Southern Journal of Philosophy, IJPS, Research in Phenomenology and Sophia.

How should we understand gender, sex and race in the 21st century? How do these categories interact with each other to constitute our identities and social power dynamics? Join us to think about these questions and more.
Feminism is a political movement aiming to end the oppression of women. But what is to be a 'woman'? Do women have distinctive ways of knowing and acting? What is gender injustice? The course engages with such core issues of feminist thought.
The course examines key texts of some of the greatest philosophers of the 20th-century European tradition, including Heidegger, Sartre, Beauvoir and Merleau-Ponty.
During this course we will explore and discuss core issues concerning the nature of language, meaning and philosophy as they are approached by one of the most important philosophers of the 20th Century, Ludwig Wittgenstein.
