Artificial Intelligence (AI) Steering Group
Scope
The Artificial Intelligence Steering Group (AISG) is the Department for Continuing Education’s forum to discuss and seek clarity relating to the University’s regulations and policies on AI. In addition to this we recognise that our students will benefit from adaptable, flexible and bespoke learning offered by AI-powered pedagogy. With this in mind we will seek a practical balance between understanding the technology and the potential consequences of it in the HE environment. This will be the primary focus of the steering group.
Purpose
In line with our core value of inclusivity, the forum seeks to enhance and develop knowledge and understanding relating to all practices of embedding AI in the HE environment. This will be achieved by providing a context for:
- Sharing practice of AI in the HE environment (exemplary or other).
- Developing a sound understanding about AI technology in HE.
- Discussing the potential consequences of AI in the HE classroom.
- Developing case studies, facilitated through OUDCE courses, about the use of AI in different subject areas and modes of delivery.
- Promoting collaborative exploration (discussion and peer review) of case studies and key readings on AI.
Attendees
The working group attendees will consist of postholders of the department and student representatives, plus invited guests.
Format
The AI steering group will meet once a term at lunchtimes (BYO). The physical location for meetings will be Rewley House or Ewert House (hybrid mode will be available for those unable to attend in person).
The group may sometimes wish to invite a speaker from another relevant University group such as:
- The Centre for Teaching and Learning
- AI at Oxford group
Outputs from the forum
- Updates in the OUDCE e-newsletter
- Contributions to University-wide research events
- Collaborative papers
