Richard Rowley
Richard Rowley has overseen the development of many academic websites in Oxford and further afield and worked on such digital humanities projects as The Holinshed Project. He is a graphic designer, teaches Renaissance literature, and is a Director of Agile Collective Ltd, with whom he is currently working on a new digitisation of the Bodleian's Euclid manuscript ( MS D'Orville 301).
Courses
Spanning several thousand years of European and anglophone drama, novels and film, this course searches for an answer to the questions 'why are comedies enjoyable?' and 'why do we laugh?'
An exploration of what makes us laugh: how humour is used in fiction and the different subgenres of comedy in classic plays, film, poetry and contemporary contexts such as standup and romcoms.
