Ken Thompson
Ken Thompson is a retired academic who now lives in Devon, but spent most of his career at Sheffield University. He was for 16 years a member of RHS Science Committee, and teaches garden ecology on the Kew Horticulture Diploma. For ten years he wrote a regular gardening column for the Daily Telegraph, and now writes chiefly for Which? Gardening. He has published several books on gardening and popular science. His latest book, on Britain’s commonest plants, was published by Profile Books in 2023. In 2016 he was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Veitch Memorial Medal for his contribution to the advancement and improvement of the science and practice of horticulture.
