Biography

Dr. Nikolaos (Nikos) Theodorakis is a Departmental Lecturer and Course Convenor for International Trade and Finance at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow at Stanford Law School. Nikos has been teaching and supervising students at the Diplomatic Studies Programme for more than a decade. During his time in Oxford, Nikos has lectured at the Faculty of Law, has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Kellogg College, and a Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College.

Nikos completed his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. He holds degrees from the University of Oxford (PG.C.), the University of Cambridge (M.Phil.), University College London (LL.M.), London School of Economics (B.SC.) and the University of Athens (LL.B.).  

Prior to joining Oxford, Nikos taught and conducted research at the University of Cambridge, Harvard Law School, and Columbia Law School. He has served as a fellow at the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, a visiting scholar at Columbia University, a visiting research fellow at the U.S. Library of Congress, and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, a visiting fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and a visiting researcher at the Institute of International Law at Georgetown University. He also gained professional experience at the U.S. Committee on Capital Markets Regulation and the UK Ministry of Justice.

Nikos has received awards from several bodies, including the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the British Academy and the Greek Parliament. He has served as a consultant and a legal trainer for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), a consultant for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an expert and rapporteur for the International Academy of the Belt and Road, an assessor and peer reviewer for Transparency International, and other international institutions and organisations.
