Launching our People Awards
Last week the Department launched its first-ever People Awards. The awards were designed to celebrate the contribution and commitment of people in the Department, as well as those from across the University of Oxford who have supported the work of the Department to achieve its objectives.
The Oxford Lifelong Learning Inspiring Excellence People Awards (OLLIEs) were an opportunity to recognise colleagues who have gone the extra mile, whose approach to their work exemplified the values that are so important in our learning community, or who deserved thanks for their significant contribution to supporting the colleagues and teams they work alongside.
Matthew Weait, Director of the Department for Continuing Education said, ‘We were delighted to receive over 130 nominations across 11 categories in our first year. It was inspiring for the judging panel and myself to read the nominations, each of which provided insight into the extraordinary work of people connected with the Department, often with no public recognition for their contribution.’
Set to be an annual event, the awards recognised contributions relating to the vision, mission and values, to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion, and for teaching excellence. Team of the Year, Manager of the Year and Colleague of the Year were also extremely competitive categories with a number of nominations.
