Foodies Festival Free Entry all Weekend!

Students and staff of the University are entitled to enter this year’s Foodies Festival for free all weekend - a saving of £20 on the standard ticket price – courtesy of the Department for Continuing Education. You can even bring a friend at no extra charge!

Foodies Festival, one of the UK’s largest food, drink and wellbeing festivals, will take place in Oxford at South Park on 1-3 September 2017.

The concession came about after Oxford Continuing Education contributed several thousand ‘seeded’ promotional bookmarks as giveaways to festival attendees. The bookmarks feature a tear away strip of forget-me-not seeds to plant, links to free online learning resources, and details of our latest prize draw - all part of our summer 'grow' campaign.

In return for the bookmarks, the Festival is waiving the entry fee over the weekend to anyone in possession of a University of Oxford staff or student card.

The 3-day event, which claims to be the UK’s “Gastronomic Glastonbury”, is an opportunity to meet top chefs including Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown, Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebutt and Michelin-starred chef Gary Jones of Le Manor.

Among the entertainments on offer, the Festival website invites you to "feast in the Street Food Avenue; learn to bake in the Cake and Bake Theatre; enjoy afternoon tea in the Vintage Tea Tent; taste wine, champagne and craft beer in the Drinks Theatre; buy from local producers in the Artisan Market; get the kids motivated in the Childrens Cookery Theatre; hear live music on the Unsigned Music Awards Stage; and - for the intrepid - enter the Chilli Eating Competition."

The Department for Continuing Education's seeded bookmarks can be found at local festivals throughout the summer.
