Through an artist’s eye: Felicia Browne and the Spanish Civil War
Professor Tom Buchanan is the academic partner for this Arts Council-funded project, and has been working with the artist Sonia Boué and poet Jenny Rivarola to explore the historic context of Felicia Browne's work.
Felicia Browne (1904-36) was an artist who died fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Her archive, split between three friends, was traced by Professor Buchanan in 2002 and was digitised by the Tate Gallery for one of their early digitisation projects. The Tate project was the first collaboration between Professor Buchanan and Sonia Boué.
The current project is a multimedia response to the archive, and Felicia Browne's story.
