Language and Brain Laboratory

Faculty of Linguistics Philology & Phonetics

University of Oxford

I am the Senior Research Associate in the Language and Brain Laboratory (Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics) where I work primarily on an EPSRC-funded grant (2022-2027). My research involves experimentally investigating (through psycholinguistic behavioural techniques and neurolinguistic approaches) the extent to which underlying patterns govern the processing of sounds in related languages. We use data collected via behavioural methods, brain imaging (EEG, fMRI), speech recordings, eye-tracking, survey responses, and corpus investigations. I am also a Stipendiary Lecturer at St. Hugh’s.

My other University roles include: the Early Career Research Representative on University Council since 2021, Chair of the Research Staff Consultation Group (RSCG), and member of the Research Staff Steering Committee (RSSC). I have also served as a researcher representative for the Humanities Division, the Faculty of Linguistics, and the Employer Justified Retirement Age (EJRA) Review Group.

Prior to my current position, I was a postdoctoral researcher on an ERC-funded grant (2017-2022) at the University of Oxford, a Departmental Lecturer in Psycholinguistics (2020-2021) and Phonology (2015-2016) at the University of Oxford, and a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Manchester (2015-2017). I also have degrees in English Language and Literature (University of Manchester, Wheaton College Massachusetts), and Medieval Studies (University of Toronto).
