Mike Molan
Dr Michael Molan has taught English literature from the early modern to the contemporary at the University of Oxford and the University of East Anglia. His research includes the impact of literary influence on poetry and criticism from modernism to the present day, and epistolary networks of writers in the twentieth century.
Courses
The Victorian period produced some of the greatest short stories in the English language. This course examines stories by a range of writers, focusing upon their exploration of identity and the relationship between the individual and the social world.
Madness, hilarity, doubt and devotion are just some of the many aspects of life explored in the huge wealth of Victorian fiction.
Dystopian fiction explores nightmare visions of the future of society. We will study four modern novels to examine how their fictional worlds draw on current events and burning issues, as well as literary genres such as science fiction.
