Hannah Simpson

Dr Hannah Simpson teaches and researches modern and contemporary literature (with a specialisation in theatre and performance) in the Faculty of English at the University of Oxford. Her work has recurrently focused on Samuel Beckett's writing, both within its original transnational literary and political contexts and as taken up in contemporary performance and popular culture today. She also works on the literary and theatrical representation of physical pain and disability, and issues of disability access. Her research has been published by the Journal of Beckett Studies, Samuel Beckett Today/Aujourdhui, Twentieth-Century Literature, Journal of Modern Literature, Etudes irlandaises, Comparative Drama, Columbia University Press, Cambridge University Press and Edinburgh University Press, and she has studied and/or held research posts in England, Northern Ireland, France, and the US. Her PhD is from the University of Oxford, and her MA is from Boston University.
