Counselling Young People: A Day School

Overview

Young people’s mental health and wellbeing have been gaining ground on the political and social agendas.

This day school will be a basic introduction to working with young people in a therapeutic context in a variety of settings, such as schools, youth groups and young people’s services. Transferrable skills include effective and empathic listening and understanding young people’s personal, social and relationship issues.

We will utilise various teaching methodologies including theoretical, experiential and practical learning. Attention will be given to the specific organisational demands and user expectations inherent in therapeutic work with young people.
